'OF THE EARTH', MAQUETTE STUDY.

'Of the Earth', Maquette Study.

10 inches tall.

Of the Earth, and all things living and growing. The butterflies, flowers, hare, as well as the spider web are tying visual elements. The modeling of the form, is overtly rounded, and representative of the 'Venus of Willendorf' artifact from the Paleolithic period.

This piece is currently in maquette form, to be later enlarged to three feet tall. The butterflies and hare, as well as many other visual elements will be added in the final sculpture. The butterflies are the iconography of Psyche, representing the soul, the flowers belong to her daughter, Voluptas (Hedone). Her father is Eros, the Greek God of Love. The spider and its web represent the ecosystem, the hare represents the continuation of life.
